Mission Statement
Buddha Maitreya Prison Project is an outreach by Maitreya Extended Sangha students to place Buddha Maitreya Shambhala Healing Tools, Soul Therapy® Pyramid Systems & Soul Therapy Music in correctional facilities, mental hospitals, half way houses and other treatment groups to further and facilitate self-healing and the practice of meditation and harmlessness.
About
For many years His Holiness Buddha Maitreya has told his students that someday Soul Therapy® would be available in prisons, mental institutions, hospitals and nursing homes. This Dharma has begun through His Holiness Prison Project!
This project began on April 13, 2008 and is led by a retired prison warden and student of His Holiness Buddha Maitreya.
There are 2.3 million people incarcerated in our country! This number is staggering and obviously the prison project is a huge undertaking but with His Holiness, all things become possible.
We had three people approved as volunteers in June of 2008 to enter the Wyoming Womens' Center in Lusk, Wyoming. These three women volunteers received eight hours of training, were finger printed, photographed and given a tour of the prison Septemeber 21, 2008. The ex-warden was one the trio approved!
In early November of 2008, after a member conference call a website was set up for the prison project. Miracously, prison project members totatled fourteen people! The group busily worked establishing the website information and necessary processes to proceed. Due to the magnitude of this project it was determined we would send music CDs to prisons first, then as we could, facilitate meditation and Soul Therapy.
November 28, 2008 the first weekly mediation was facilitated at the Wyoming Womens' Center with thirteen inmates attending! Two sessions of weekly meditations continue on Fridays to accomodate the different custody levels and various activities.
On March 28, 2009 three members of our group facilitated a meditation at FCI Terminal Island, California. A male minimum security prison. Sixty inmates attended! Plans are now occurring to enter Chuckawalla Valley State Prison, also in California, to set up meditation sessions. This prison houses 3700 inmates.
Approximately twenty CD information packets have been sent out. Most of these packets went to prisons for inmate and staff access. The local hospital, nursing home and mental health clinic in Lusk plus the Veteran's Medical Center in Hot Springs, South Dakota and Help Hospital Veteran's Organization in Washington, DC also recieved packets. Group members will follow up with their contacts periodically plus continue progress on new contacts.
Meditations for staff at the Womens' Center and local hospital/nursing home were set up twice monthly. A new location for these sessions is in the works as the previous place did not work out.
Accessing the prison system is a different experience than dealing with the mainstream population, but the blessings of doing this service is immense! Our hearts fill with great graditude and love to His Holiness for His healing blessings of love and redemption going to people living and working in prisons. Also people in hospitals, treatment centers, half way houses and nursing homes.
With love and graditude,
Buddha Maitreya Prison Project Group
